Wildlife watching
No feeding platforms, no fences, no schedule: Danum's wildlife is genuinely wild, which makes every sighting earned.
What it is
Wildlife watching, properly done
No feeding platforms, no fences, no schedule: Danum's wildlife is genuinely wild, which makes every sighting earned. Orangutans build nests above the river, pygmy elephants commute along the roads, and ten primate species share the canopy.
What you'll see
Wild Bornean orangutans, pygmy elephants, red leaf monkeys, gibbons, bearded pigs, sambar deer, sun bear signs — and the small wonders in between, from Wallace's flying frog to Rajah Brooke's birdwing.
Best time & conditions
Wildlife moves year-round; fruiting seasons concentrate the primates and your guides read the forest daily. Dawn and dusk are the rush hours.
