How to choose your stay

Comparing Danum Valley's 3 Lodges

Three very different places to stay sit inside the Danum Valley Conservation Area. Learn how they compare for comfort, trail access and wildlife to find the right fit for your trip.

How to choose your stay

The forest trails

Located 2.5 hours from Lahad Datu, three properties operate inside 438 square kilometres of unlogged lowland rainforest. You must decide whether an air-conditioned villa, a scientific research base or a reforestation basecamp fits your travel style. Discover the facilities, trail networks and conservation projects at each site to plan your trip.

The lodge and Study Centre give you access to unlogged forest while INFAPRO brings you into forest restoration work. You have the same chance to see wild orangutans and Bornean pygmy elephants on the trails. Pack leech socks for walking in the undergrowth wherever you sleep. Every package requires you to book through a licensed travel agency. None of the lodges permit unescorted walking so you must explore with your assigned guide.
