Suspended 27 metres above the primary rainforest floor, this 360-metre structure is engineered directly into living hardwood trees. The cables span the mid-stratum to put you at eye level with hornbills and primates, far above the dark trails below. You reach the first platform after a guided 2-kilometre hike from Borneo Rainforest Lodge that begins well before dawn.
Canopy birds and primates
Rhinoceros hornbills are frequently observed in the upper canopy. Bushy-crested hornbills travel in noisy flocks. Red giant flying squirrels are resident, and primates move through the branches on most mornings.
Getting on it at dawn
Guided walks start at 6am for the dawn chorus and morning mist. The excursion takes about 2 hours. Guides keep each span to 2–3 guests to limit bounce. Bring a torch for the dark approach.
