Danum Valley Study Centre · 5 days · 4 nights · Family

Young Naturalists

Four nights of towers, trails and river days pitched for curious children — and the adults they bring with them.

Day by day

A flexible template

Timings flex with weather, river levels and what the forest is doing — your guide reads the day.

Day 1

Arrive & the bridge

Transfer in, cross the Segama suspension bridge (an event in itself), and settle into the resthouse. Evening frog hunt along the streams.

Day 2

The 500-metre classroom

The self-guided nature trail done properly — slowly — then the Nature Discovery Centre and an afternoon river study session with nets and ID sheets.

Day 3

Tower day

Up the observation tower for hornbills and gibbon calls, junior bird checklist in hand. Night drive after dinner: eyeshine bingo.

Day 4

Waterfall expedition

The Tembaling Waterfall trek with swim stops, leech-sock heroics and a picnic. Evening: a researcher tells the campfire version of what they study.

Day 5

Sunrise & home

Optional Bukit Atur sunrise for early risers, breakfast, and the transfer out with notebooks full.

The fine print, plainly
